I don't have no experience of larp - Live Action Role Play.
Artist Adam James, with whom I have worked as a performer/participant a number of times, has been using elements of larp as part of his practice for a while, mostly using it as a means of generating character and performance material for his work - an "on-going exploration into the use of role-play, improvisation and game mechanics as means to generate choreographic content with the goal being to better understand personal, social and cultural constructs" - and I have played a number of small-scale larp-based games as part of workshops for his projects.
Adam is currently running a series of full-length Nordic Larps - Larps From the Factory - in London at the Proud Archivist in Haggerston, London, this spring.
I have signed up to do the second one, Limbo (existential choices in a slightly absurd version of the afterlife), which takes place this Sunday, 11 May.
As I say, I don't have NO experience, but a 3-4 hour immersive role playing game certainly gives me a certain amount of fear.
But, knowing Adam, it will be a fun and ultimately rewarding experience. I can do this.

Larp is the new kid on the block, it’s a continually evolving, worldwide form with a passionate vibrant community.
‘Larp is a type of interactive drama where all the participants play predetermined characters and improvise within a story and a framework set by the larpwrights.’
Running on fortnightly weekends, The Proud Archivist will host the UK premiere of 6 cutting edge Larps taken from ‘Larps From the Factory’ book.
Whether you’re a grizzled gamer, Larp curious hipster or simply looking to try something different, join us in stepping out of the old and into the new.
Bringing the hottest talent to UK, Adam James will facilitate, run and co-host a series of 3-5 hour Nordic Larps exploring collaborative, immersive play.
Each game will be cherry picked covering a broad range of themes, styles and methods. Each game will be preceded with short informal discussions, giving relevant theory, tools and inroads for new and old players alike.
Join us in the wilful deconstruction and blurring of distinctions between art and play, film and theatre, gallery and world, audience and participant, passive and immersive experience.
